Collection of Personal Data

Comments

When you leave a comment on our website, the information you enter in the comment form, as well as your IP address and browser user agent, are collected to assist us in detecting spam comments.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also known as a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to determine if you are using it. The privacy policy for the Gravatar service is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture is publicly visible next to your comment.

Media

If you are a registered user and upload images to the website, it is recommended to avoid uploading images with embedded GPS (EXIF GPS) location data. Website visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

When you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so you don’t have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Upon logging in, we will set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Editing or publishing an article sets an additional cookie in your browser. This cookie does not include personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.

Embedded content from other sites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other sites behaves in the same way as if the visitor were visiting that other site. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking tools, and track your interactions with this embedded content if you have a logged-in account on their website.

Use and transmission of your personal data

Storage periods for your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This makes it possible to automatically recognise and approve subsequent comments instead of leaving them in the moderation queue.

For users registered on our site, we also store the personal data indicated in their profile. All users can view, modify or delete their personal information at any time (with the exception of their user name). Site managers can also view and modify this information.

The rights you have over your data

If you have an account or if you have left comments on the site, you may request to receive a file containing all the personal data we hold about you, including that which you have provided to us. You may also request the deletion of your personal data. This does not include data stored for administrative, legal or security purposes.

Transmission of your personal data

Visitors’ comments may be checked using an automated service to detect undesirable comments.
